A Home Remedy For Acne - Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is one of the most common choices of a home remedy for acne as it has long been used in all sorts of skin care products.
How Aloe Vera Works as a Home Remedy For Acne
Aloe Vera is traditionally used in the treatment of wounds, minor burns and skin irritations. It contains many active ingredients such as gibberlin which acts as an anti-inflamatory and wound healer, saponins which has antiseptic and cleansing properties, lignins which are able to penetrate the skin cells and transmit the beneficial ingredients.
What makes Aloe Vera effective as a home remedy for acne is the anti-inflamatory which helps reduce the acne pimples, and the antibacterial property which helps to prevent infection from the bacteria in the broken skin and it also has a minor pain releiving component salicylic acid which is the main ingredient in aspirin!
How to Apply Aloe Vera as a Home Remedy For Acne
If you have access to the Aloe Vera plant itself then you can take one of the thick leaves, cut them and apply the gel-like juice from the leaf directly to the affected skin. Alternatively, take the juice, mix it with water and then freeze into ice cubes which you can then use as a refreshing topical treatment to soothe and cool the inflamed, irritated skin.
If you don’t have an Aloe Vera plant handy then you can use any of the wide variety of products that you can find in your local store. Here is a skin care regime that you might want to try:
1 - Directly apply an Aloe Vera gel to the individual pimples in the skin. This will help reduce the swelling and redness and works like an ordinary spot treatment.
2 - Wash your face in the morning and at night using a facial cleanser containing aloe vera. You can also use an aloe vera soap for washing other affected areas such as the back and chest.
3 - Moisturize the face and neck areas using an aloe vera lotion or cream. This helps to prevent further skin irritation by drying out of the skin.
4 - Once a week, apply an aloe vera face mask. Apply the mask to the face at night before bed, leave it on overnight and then wash it off with warm water in the morning.
There are a wide variety of aloe vera products to use as part of your home remedy for acne routine but if you can, try getting hold of a real plant as the fresh juice is more effective and cheaper than store-bought products.
